A SPRING WEDDING AT THE EXPLORERS CLUB
THE EXPLORERS CLUB, MANHATTAN - JUNE, 2022
Hidden in a townhouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, is a venue that could be straight out of a Wes Anderson film (if it hasn't already been). Members of the Explorer’s Club were the first to the North and South Poles, the top of Mount Everest, the bottom of the Ocean and even to walk on the Moon. And in the spring of 2022, in the place where these great adventures were planned and discussed, Caitlin and Mike started out on their greatest adventure, committing to a lifetime together in the club's courtyard (see what I did there? 😉)
This wedding was a brilliant example of how floral installations can have a huge impact and imprint a couple’s personal style on a cocktail party style reception .
Bails of privet were used to adorn the massive fireplace within the hall, designed and built for the Singer Sewing heir and his family over 100 years ago. The ornate details and faces peak through clusters of peonies, while the greenery hides an unsightly projector and electric chords. The setting offered a place for friends and family to interact with and have their portraits taken, as well as offering a backdrop to their speeches throughout the reception.
Florals climb up the stairs to welcome guests alongside Elenor Rosevelt’s iron rhinoceros and buffalo. But my favorite of all, is the littlest fairy perched above the fountain in the courtyard that was dripping with blooms in the most lush spring palette. Florals and vines crawl up around the iron work to create an alter that later turned into the backdrop of an epic dance party.
